Latvia Reports ASF Outbreaks in Farmed Pigs and Wild Boar

LATVIA - There have been 16 new outbreaks of African Swine Fever in Latvia, including one outbreak in a backyard swine holding.

There were 16 cases in wild boar. Four of these animals died from the disease, and 12 were destroyed.

The backyard outbreak occurred in a susceptible population of five pigs. Two cases were found in the herd, but all five animals were destroyed.

The swine outbreak occurred in the county of Cibla. The rest of the outbreaks were distributed across the whole of the eastern half of Latvia.
