Update on Swine Enteric Coronavirus Disease in US

US - The number of pig farm samples that are confirmed positive for porcine epidemic diarrhoea virus (PEDV) in the last week was 13, and no premises were confirmed with porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV).

For the latest week – 28 December 2014 to 3 January 2015 – there were 13 new confirmed positive premises for PEDV and one presumed positive, according to the latest report from USDA APHIS.

For the same period, no premises were confirmed or presumed positive for PDCoV or with a dual infection (both PEDV and PDCoV) and there were no suspected cases.

The total numbers of premises with confirmed positive status for the current week are 617, 23 and 22 for PEDV, PDCoV and the dual infection, respectively.

Since 5 June, for PEDV, there have been 638 confirmed positive premises, 361 presumed positive and 15 previously positive premises that have attained negative status.

For PDCoV, the total for the same period are 28, 26 and five, respectively. For the dual infection, the totals are 22, 26 and one, respectively.

Location of Positive Premises

PEDV

There are currently 33 states with at least one confirmed positive case of PEDV.

For the current week (28 December), there were 59 PEDV-positive laboratory accessions, bringing the total since 5 June 2014 to 2,448. Iowa reported 23 of these new cases, Minnesota, nine and Illinois, six.

Also reporting positive results in this most recent week were California, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Nebraska, Oklahome, South Dakota, Texas and Utah.

PDCoV

There are currently 17 states with at least one confirmed positive case of PDCoV.

For the current week (28 December), there were seven PDCoV-positive laboratory accessions, bringing the total since 5 June 2014 to 252. There were four positive premises in Minnesota, two in Illinois and one "unknown".
