Meeting Discusses ASF Prevention in Moscow, Tula
RUSSIA - A meeting to discuss the prevention of the spread of African swine Fever (ASF) in the Moscow and Tula regions was held by the Russian veterinary department, Rosselkhoznadzor.
The meeting discussed major issues in the prevention of ASF including monitoring the disposal of food waste, which is a major source of ASF virus spread and addressing the lack of farm monitoring and control by the Departmental Veterinary Service in the regions.
The meeting also discussed the problem with pig products of unknown origin being traded on highways. There is therefore an urgent need to strengthen controls over the trading of food at the roadside.
The veterinary department said that more spot checks are needed.
A further meeting is scheduled for the 27 April.
