Hog Cholera Cases Identified in Wild Boar

RUSSIA - Dr Nicolay Vlasov has reported two new outbreaks of classical swine fever, also known as hog cholera, in Vladimirskaya oblast and Smolenskaya oblast.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 13 on Friday, 13 January. The affected population comprises wild boars (sus scrofa).

According to the report, 18 animals were found susceptible to the outbreak, out of which eight cases were identified. The eight affected animals were found dead.

The source of the outbreak remains unknown.
