Another H1N1 Case Suspected in Northern Ireland

NORTHERN IRELAND, UK - A suspected case of influenza A/H1N1 has occurred in a commercial pig unit.

The UK veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 11 dated 4 December to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

It describes a suspected case of H1N1 flu, which started on 27 November on a 1,700-head pig unit in County Tyrone. According to the report, a 170-sow birth-to-bacon unit was affected. This was an incidental finding following investigation of another disease in pigs. Investigations are continuing.

This report also gives details of the latest H1N1 flu outbreak on a farm in the English country of Norfolk.
