Russian Veterinary Authorities Report Case of CSF

RUSSIA - Veterinary authorities in Russia have reported a case of Classical Swine Fever (CSF) to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The Russian authorities made a report to the OIE on 7 October. According to the report, the disease has occured in Kotovsky in the Volgogradskaya region.

The disease has been found to occur in the wild boar population.

Some of the measures applied to curb the spread of the disease in the country are:

  • Quarantine
  • Movement control inside the country
  • Screening
  • Zoning
  • Vaccination in response to the outbreak (s)
  • No treatment of affected animals
