The Fishing Lake First Nation is joining with Big Sky Farms and Saskatchewan Pork to develop a business plan for the $100 million complex, which could handle one million hogs a year.

A partnership investment group involving First Nations governments has been established and 15 bands from Saskatchewan and Alberta have already expressed interest.

The Fishing Lake First Nation is also prepared to purchase land for the building in Saskatoon's north industrial area.

Jim Ramsay, a consultant with the First Nation, says he hopes construction can start next spring.
