Quotations for both live swine and pork meat in Brazil slipped in March, according to the latest Cepea market report. But while month-on-month prices eased, year-on-year figures remain significantly higher in several regions.

In the SP-5 region—Bragança Paulista, Campinas, Piracicaba, São Paulo and Sorocaba—live pig prices averaged BRL 8.56/kg (USD 1.58/lb) in March, down 3.3% from February. Still, values were up 17.9% compared to March 2024, adjusted for inflation (IGP-DI March/25).

In western Santa Catarina, a major pork-producing area, prices climbed 24.3% year-over-year, with live pigs averaging BRL 8.34/kg (USD 1.54/lb).

Special pork carcasses traded in Greater São Paulo averaged BRL 12.60/kg (USD 2.32/lb), down 4.8% from February but up 25.5% from a year earlier.
