The Brazilian Association of Pig Breeders (ABCS) will hold, on March 27, in São Paulo, the first edition of the Latin American Connection: Strengthening Partnerships in the Value Chain of Pig Farming, according to a press release issued by the association

The initiative seeks to establish an environment of dialogue between associations of pig farmers in Latin America, promoting debates on common challenges and opportunities for collaboration. The president of ABCS, Marcelo Lopes Lopes explains that each participating association will have a space to expose their initiatives and challenges, allowing an exchange of experiences on topics such as animal health and biosecurity, international market, sustainability, public policies and innovation and technology. "In the end, as a referral there will be the elaboration of a joint agenda, seeking cooperation between countries to strengthen the sector. The unfolding of this dialogue is expected to culminate in the signing of a cooperation letter between the participants," explains the president of ABCS.

Lopes also reinforces the importance of the event for participating countries, as Latin American pig farmers play a fundamental role in the global production of pork, one of the most dynamic agricultural sectors. "The Latin American Connection represents a strategic step for building partnerships and strengthening the pig chain. It is a milestone for the sector and will be a unique opportunity to consolidate a joint development agenda," he highlights.

The program will feature institutional presentations from ABCS and ABEGS, addressing strategic aspects of the Brazilian pig sector, such as health, market and public policies, in addition to highlighting the potential of Brazilian pig genetics and its health differential through a public-private partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock at the Cananéia Quarantine Station.

The event has the support of the Brazilian Association of Pig Genetics Companies (ABEGS) and the 3tres3 platform. The face-to-face meeting is for guests only and will have simultaneous translation into Portuguese and Spanish.
