Germany reports new ASF case in wild boar - ISN
It's the first case reported in the district of Darmstadt-DieburgGermany has detected another case of African swine fever (ASF) in a wild boar. The case was detected in the state of Hesse in the district of Darmstadt-Dieburg. It is the first positive ASF case in the district, according to German pig group ISN.
The positive sample was sent to the Friedrich Loeffler Institute (FLI) for review and is still waiting for final confirmation.
First measures initiated
The wild boar was found in Pfungstadt in the district of Eschollbrücken in southern Hesse. Whether the previous restricted zones in Hesse need to be expanded is currently being examined by the district administration.
The district has already taken comprehensive measures to keep the situation under control, in addition to the establishment of various restricted zones, nationwide drone flights, wild boar barriers and information campaigns have been carried out to raise public awareness.
