Russia reports ASF outbreak at pork plant
Russia has reported an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) at a site of the country’s largest pork producer Miratorg.Reuters reports that the cases were identified at one of Miratorg’s sites in the Belgorod region of central Russia. The country’s agriculture safety watchdog is monitoring the situation.
Spread partly by wild boars, ASF is harmless to human beings but is highly contagious among pigs.
Miratorg, a privately-owned company was not available for immediate comment.
