EU pig prices: scarce supply boosts hog prices this week
Pig prices are developing positively for many EU markets this week, much to the relief of producers.

By: The German, Dutch and Belgian quotations set the bar for the rest of the EU market participants with a 6 cent price improvement. Lower slaughter numbers and weights are narrowing supply which is pushing prices up slowly.
Austria noted a 5 cent increase this week and due to low numbers of piglets, their market analysts are predicting continued under-supply.
The Spanish price improved by 4 cents following a slow rise in quotations over the last few weeks. Carcass weights dropped significantly indicating competition for carcasses.
