In a release published this week, the NPA discusses the rising threat of African swine fever: the disease continues to spread globally and the continued movement through Western Europe puts the UK in the path of the epidemic.

According to the NPA, the NFU Mutual (NFUM) agency have expressed that there is demand for an ASF insurance solution in the UK. NFUM reports that: "To date and to the best of our knowledge there is not an ASF Insurance solution in the UK market, so we are seeking to establish the level of demand for such a product, the key insurance needs and what would be a viable insurance price point."

The NPA and NFUM are working together to gather information to demonstrate the demand for the insurance scheme and what needs the scheme must meet. This information will provide the insurer with a platform from which to build a sustainable ASF insurance solution.

The questionnaire can be found online and can be submitted via email to [email protected] .
