USMEF Highlights Importance of Red Meat Exports at Ag Expo
US - Last week, USMEF participated in the Minnesota Ag Expo, held 25-26 January at the Verizon Wireless Center in Mankato. The event is hosted annually by the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association and Minnesota Corn Growers Association.“While USMEF receives outstanding support from Minnesota’s agricultural organizations, many producers are still unfamiliar with the important work USMEF does on their behalf,” said USMEF Chair Bruce Schmoll, a soybean and corn producer from Claremont, Minnesota.
“Events like the Ag Expo give us the opportunity to meet producers face-to-face and share information about the importance of red meat exports to their bottom line.”
Mr Schmoll was joined by USMEF staff members John Hinners and Lindsay Dick, and by Oscar Ferrara, USMEF’s new regional director for Mexico, Central America and the Dominican Republic.
The team shared information about USMEF’s efforts to expand international demand for US red meat and distributed samples of Japanese pork curry to trade show attendees.
Mr Schmoll and Mr Ferrara also conducted interviews with farm broadcasters and other reporters covering the event.
In addition to the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council and the Minnesota Corn Research and Promotion Council, the Minnesota Pork Board, the Minnesota Beef Council, the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation and the Minnesota Department of Agriculture are also longtime members of USMEF.
