PIC Helps to Improve Your Profit Per Sow
GLOBAL - At the end of last year, PIC conducted a series of road shows in the US. During two weeks, a team of technical experts went to various locations across the Midwest to meet with over 800 people that work in pig production. The attendance varied from supervisors and production staff to technical specialists and veterinarians.
The presentations focused on practical tips that help to improve the profit per sow by at least $100 per year. That may seem like an ambitious goal, but our data shows a difference between top producers and average producers of more than $300 per sow in 2016. We believe that each person in a production system can contribute to this goal and create the right environment for the pigs to achieve their genetic potential.
Building on the US road show theme we are introducing a series of Pig Improver articles with practical tips and decision making tools that can help producers improve the profit per sow. In this issue you can find an article about best practices in transport to minimize losses. Also, we are featuring the Optimum Boar Life tool that supports decision making regarding replacement rate in a boar stud.
We hope you enjoy the articles and encourage you to reach out to your PIC account manager to understand what resources are available to help you think through opportunities to improve the profit per sow.
