Good Weather Helps Brazil to Record Grain Crop
BRAZIL – Favourable production conditions in key producing regions have pushed Brazil’s grain yields to bumper levels, lifting 6.4 per cent on the prior year.

New records have been set by Brazil’s 2015/16 grains harvest on the back of a 1.7 per cent rise in planted acres, taking harvested area to 58 million hectares.
A government spokesperson said: “This result shows a pattern of agricultural expansion in which the use of new technologies and knowledge are more important than growth based on increased area.”
After a long period of remaining below 1 tonne per acre, Brazil has achieved higher levels of productivity, through “research-oriented agricultural policies”, the spokesperson added.
"In recent years, especially since 1990, Brazil has gone from food importer to a major exporter of grains and meat."
