In the latest Pork Profitability from Harrisvaccines, Meghan Grebner says pork producers saw a drastic decline in cases of the PED virus this past winter.

But Dr Liz Wagstrom, chief veterinarian with the National Pork Producers Council says that does not mean producers can let their guard down.

She said: “What we need to be doing is continuing all the good things we’ve been doing to control it.

“I think farmers have really upped their biosecurity, they’re really careful about what they’re bringing in on their farm. They have herds from last year that have some immunity and as time goes on that immunity will wane so we still need to really be careful.”
