The event took place at the Farmers’ Club in London with sponsors and guests from the wider industry.

Scholarship Steering Group Chairman Peter Rollings said: “I believe the pig sector to be dynamic, enthusiastic, very hard working but very friendly and, perhaps more importantly, with a can-do attitude. This means we don’t just identify problems but bring forward solutions.

“I started as a trainee and managed to rise to the top of the business. My greatest reward has been to see the people now running my old business all came in as trainees. The same can be said for most of the businesses in the industry.

“The opportunities are there. Go out and grab them. I hope all the students here are able to enjoy a rewarding career.”
