Belgium Keep PEDv Safeguard Measures in Place
BELGIUM - Brussels has extended its controls on imports of live pigs from the States and Canada until October next year, because of continued concerns about Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea (PED).

By: The rules, imposed in July this year, initially until January, require imports of live pigs to be accompanied by a certificate stating the pigs are PEDv-free and have not been anywhere near a PEDv infection.
The extended regulation notes advice from the European Food Safety Authority that animals, their faeces, feed and objects contaminated with faeces are capable of transmitting the virus.
