UK - Warwich-headquartered food producer Tulip and rival Cranswick have acquired assets from the administrators of collapsed pig rearer Dent, including about 18,000 pigs.

Insider Media reports that Adrian Berry and Clare Boardman of Deloitte were appointed joint administrators of Penrith-headquartered Dent on 2 December 2013 and have concluded a partial sale of the business.

Following their appointment, the administrators continued to trade the company while negotiations with a number of interested parties were progressed.

"We are delighted to confirm that we were able to conclude sales to Cranswick and Tulip on 19 December 2013 and 20 December 2013 respectively," said joint administrator Adrian Berry.

"This resulted in the sale of circa 18,000 pigs and related assets across 13 farms."
