Ukraine Opens Doors to Brazilian Pork

UKRAINE - After more than two months, one of the largest buyers of Brazilian pork – Ukraine - has raised private sector hopes by lifting an import ban which led to an 18 per cent export drop for Brazil in May.

The news follows the reopening of the Japanese market and comes as a huge boost to 2013 market expectations.

Back in March, fears over Brazilian pork quality were started when bacteria was found in certain batches.

Ukrainian food inspection bodies claimed that certain pork from Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul contained Listeria.

Export resumption ignites market optimism in Brazil. Market commentators predict a huge turnaround in exports for over the coming six months.
