Future of Zoonosis Linked to Farming and Environment
GLOBAL – As agriculture intensifies and climate changes, so too will the risk posed to us by zoonotic diseases.This is according to a joint study by the Royal Veterinary College and the International Livestock Research Institute in Nairobi.
Carried out by a multidisciplinary team, the outcome of the study was that the evolution of the environment nexus and food production will dictate the rate of zoonotic disease spread.
The team caveated that biological, economic, social and environmental dimensions of pathogenic emergence mean the ability to predict outbreaks is limited.
