Further Classical Swine Fever Outbreaks Reported in Latvia
LATVIA - The Latvian veterinary authorities have reported five further outbreaks of classical swine fever in Dagdas county and Kraslavas county, affecting wild boar populations.Follow-up report no. 6 was sent to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) on 25 March. The outbreaks in Latvia date back to October 2012.
11 cases were reported. The 11 animals affected by hog cholera were destroyed as a preventive measure.
The OIE reports that hunting and sampling of wild boar is still on-going.
The source of the outbreaks remains inconclusive.
