Outbreak of ASF in the Ivanovo Region

RUSSIA - The Russian Veterinary Service has reported a new outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the Ivanovo region in western Russia.

The outbreak was reported on a private farm in the village of Ivanovo Nikulskoe, Ivanovo region.

In response, the veterinary service has issued the following advice:

  • smallholders keep livestock in the barns, stables, and avoid contact with other animals
  • handle pigs and facilities with care to avoid biting insects (lice, ticks, fleas)
  • constantly fight against rodents
  • do not use food waste to feed pigs
  • Do not purchase live pigs from unauthorized trading places without accompanying veterinary documents
