Belarus Stops Pork Imports from Moscow, Latvia
BELARUS - The Belarus government has banned pork imports from Moscow and Latvia following an outbreak of African swine fever, the department of veterinary and food surveillance at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food told the Belarusian Telegraph Agency.

By: An outbreak of an especially dangerous disease - African swine fever (ASF) - was recorded in Moscow Oblast of the Russian Federation, reports the Belarusian Telegraph Agency.
According to Rosselkhoznadzor (the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance), the virus was found in the corpses of four boars as part of ASF monitoring program on the farm Zavidovo, the southern site of which is located in Klin District of Moscow Oblast,“
On 23 November, Belarus also imposed a ban on the import of pork from Latvia. Antibodies of classical swine fever (CSF) were found in wild boars in Latvia.
“It is necessary to take additional measures to ensure biological safety of large hog complexes, pig farms and farms of all types of ownership,“ the department added.
