Sales of Soybean Meal, Pork Exports Increase
BRAZIL - Despite a drop in shipments of soybean meal throughout September, the value of sales grew by 18 per cent, compared to the same period last year.The reduction in export volume was 11 per cent, with a high of 31 per cent on average. For meat, fresh pork, beef and chicken exports also increased.
The volume of exports of soybean meal in September increased from 1.265 million tons in 2011 to 1.138 million tons this year. The average price rose from US$405.9 last year to US$532.8 in 2012.
Among fresh meats, especially pig, there was an increase of 55 per cent in volume from 35,100 tonnes (2011) to 54,400 (2012).
The volume of beef also increased from 74,200 tons to 90,900 tons, totaling $421.1 million - an increase of 7.75 per cent.
As for chicken, despite reaching 281,400 tonnes, an increase of 1.33 per cent compared to September of last year, there was a reduction in revenue of 0.28 per cent, which was US$566.1 million.
