Largest Market Opens Doors to Brazilian Pork

BRAZIL - With Japan recognising Brazil's Santa Catarina, as free of foot and mouth disease (FMD), the Brazilian government has met with Japanese officials to facilitate exports to the country.

Japan's Minister of Agriculture, Hiroko Nakano said that there will be an effort to complete the process within 60 days.

After this period, a ministerial delegation, including exporters, wil visit Japan to celebrate the first shipments and promote Brazilian beef in that market.

The start of pork exports to Japan means the opening of the largest import market in the world for this type of meat. This will consolidate trade relations between these important trading partners.
