The good national pig sanitary condition was detailed by the National Health and Quality (SENASA) during the 11th National Congress of Pig Production held 14 May to 17 August in the city of Salta.

During the meeting, hosted by the Senasa, Mariela Monterubbianesi, explained that in Argentina diseases such as classical swine fever (CSF), porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) Aujeszky and Trichinosis are under official control.

The detailed professional background of current serology and serological samples of CSF and PRRS, which demonstrate the absence of virus circulation in the country, as well as the components of national surveillance were discussed. Both diseases are considered exotic in the country, since the former has been eradicated and the second has never been diagnosed.

Also highlighted was the importance of public health and the current regulations and the actions undertaken by SENASA for prevention. He also presented statistics on outbreaks in recent years and the growing problem associated with the consumption of wild animals, especially wild boars and pumas.
