Government Seeks Feedback on Feed Regulations
CANADA - e Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) would like feedback on modernising Canada’s Feeds Regulations.The Agency has initiated a multi-year review of its regulatory framework for food safety, plant health and animal health. The livestock feed regulations are being reviewed as part of this process.
In recent years, there have been significant changes in science, technology and trade patterns, and an increase in consumer interest in food safety. The CFIA will take these changes into consideration when updating the feed regulations.
The objective of the current review is to develop risk- and outcome-based feed regulations guided by the principle that safe feed contributes to safe food. Modernised regulations would:
- continue to protect Canadians and the resources they rely on;
- reduce any unnecessary regulatory burden on stakeholders;
- reflect changes in science and technology;
- support innovation.
