African Swine Fever Breaks into Rostov
RUSSIA - An outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) has now been reported in Russia's Rostov region. This is the first time ASF has been found in the region.
Samples taken from around 100 dead pigs found dumped at the "Kazarian" farm, Tselinskii district, Rostov region have been identified as ASF.
The Tselinskii District Prosecutor's Office has started a review on the case. The owner of the farm, Simon Kazarian, was not present during the inspection as he was on vacation. He has now been asked to return to Russia immediately.
The farm has been cordoned off and roadblocks have been put up, defining a 5-kilometer exclusion zone.
