UK - All concrete floor slats used in pig houses in England will have to comply with the dimension requirements set out in pig welfare legislation no later than 1 January 2012.

By: It is possible that some floor slats will not be compliant due to minor damage, or their critical dimensions exceed permitted manufacturing tolerances.
BPEX is investigating potential solutions with a long term field trial evaluation of possible remedial treatment products which bring slats within the required dimensions.
Suppliers and manufacturers of products and equipment are invited to make submissions to be included within the trial.
Pig keepers with slats which may not comply are invited to make a request to BPEX to put their sites forward for appropriate scale trial work subject to suitability.
