Animal Health, Traceability to Improve Quality Promoted
MEXICO - The Mexican livestock sector is committed to strengthening animal health, food safety and traceability of food produced in the sector, livestock producers said during the General Assembly National Confederation of Livestock Organisations, held from 15 to 18 July in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur.
Producers noted that these public goods, that promote the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA), are guaranteed to help develop livestock in the country.
This in turn contributes around 250 billion pesos to the national economy, which represents 45 per cent of the domestic agricultural production.
Producers also recognised the importance of the National Individual Cattle Identification System (SINIIGA) for animal health, as this system controls and traceability and mobilisation of animals.
