JAPAN - The Japanese economy is starting to recover after the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on 11 March 2011. The bigger Japanese pig producers are making further investments in genetics.

By: On 27 March a new delivery of TOPIGS breeding stock arrived in good health and condition in Japan. The stock will be delivered to integrated pork producers for InGene production.
In March a delegation of leading Japanese feed companies visited TOPIGS in the Netherlands. TOPIGS' breeding farms and the research farms of leading Dutch feed companies were visited to demonstrate the nutrition needed for TOPIGS genetics.
The Japanese visitors praised the high production level of Dutch pig farming and have taken it as an example for Japanese pig producers.
