Slaughter Company Fails to Apply ASF Prevention

RUSSIA - As part of the framework on the prevention of African swine fever (ASF) in the Krasnodar Territory, the Rosselkhoznadzor conducted a series of surprise visits to slaughterhouses. The inspections found that the company, Ecoproduct, has been operating illegally, failing to meet health standards.

The audit found that the company has been operating illegally as valid certificates provided by the State Advisory Committee ended on 14 December 2011.

It was also noted that there was an absence of wheel disinfection dips for vehicles entering and leaving.

Also observed were major insufficient sanitary conditions in terms of slaughtered animal waste in close contact to animals and meat.

The inspectors also observed gross misconduct when sanitary and regulation checks were not carried out properly when animals were brought to the site for slaughter.
