Severe Neglect Uncovered at Loimaa Pig Farm

FINLAND - A case of suspected animal cruelty has been uncovered in Loimaa, south-west Finland. Police found some two hundred pigs dead on Friday, apparently due to a lack of care.

YLE reports that 19 live pigs were found, of which 18 had to be put down. An exact number of deceased animals has not yet been established. The pig-keeper has been arrested.

The keeper had not been at work over the winter because of a sick leave. Police have started a preliminary investigation into the case. The keeper is suspected of animal cruelty.
