New Outbreaks of African Swine Fever Reported

RUSSIA - Samples taken from pigs that died at the "Plemzavod Industrial", located in the village of Industrial Timashevsk region of Krasnodar Region, have been studied by the Kropotkin edge veterinary laboratory and identified as African swine fever. Further cases have also been identified in Stavropol and Astrakhan regions.

Diagnosis was confirmed in the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Veterinary Virology and Microbiology.

At the outbreak, the farm contained 30,736 pigs.

So far 15,200 of them have been destroyed by a bloodless method.

The cull was carried out to localise and stop the spread of the infection, in the Krasnodar Territory.

Samples taken from pigs in the Stavropol region have also been identified as ASF.

The study of material from eight wild boars in the Astrakhan region also revealed the presence of the causative agent of ASF.
