He was chosen by judges from Cost Sector Catering and the industry and was listed alongside such celebrities as Jamie Oliver.

Mr Goodger said: “The announcement was at a special lunch at Houses of Parliament on Wednesday after which there was a debate on sustainability in the supply chain.

“All those attending said they were aware of EU legislation coming on 1 January which means all egg producers must use enriched cages but not one knew about the partial ban on keeping sows in stalls which comes into force on 1 January 2013.

“My aim now is to make sure, over the next year, they are all fully aware of the far-reaching implications of this piece of EU legislation.”
