Dang Thi Tuyet, head of the Thu Duc District quarantine agency, said among the consignment found in the vehicle driven by Truong Hung Lam were eight cartons of meat carrying the stamp of the Quang Ngai Province animal health agency.

"But the stamps looked strange and suspicious," she said.

Her agency fined the driver and destroyed the goods in accordance with regulations.

Further investigations are ongoing, ThanhNien News.com reports.

The same day environmental police and market management officials in Hanoi found nearly one ton of rancid pig viscera in a car driven by Luong Dinh Anh, 23.

Mr Anh said he had bought the organs in Tien Son District in the northern province of Bac Ninh and was taking it to Hanoi for selling.
