The Public Procurement Awards are part of a suite of Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards presented to the food industry across Europe by Compassion in World Farming. The award winners are set to improve the lives of millions of hens, chickens, pigs and dairy cows as a result of their policies.
Launched in 2007, Compassion in World Farming’s Food Business Team has pioneered a unique partnership approach – working with the European food industry to encourage and reward commitment, transparency, performance and innovation in the field of animal welfare.
Katy Read, Head of Food Business at Compassion in World Farming said: "We’re so excited to see so many public procurement organisations engaging with us and opting for higher welfare meat and dairy produce. It goes to show that it’s not just the big food companies that can make a difference, but we can all make steps to improve the lives of millions of farm animals."
