Russia's largest scheduled cargo airline carried the pigs from Canada to Moscow's Domodedovo Airport on 29 August. The animals, weighing a total of 55,000 kilos, were safely transported in special double and triple deck shipping stalls. The Boeing 747F charter flight was the latest in a long series of live animals flights entrusted to ABC. It has previously delivered a whale, dolphins, walruses, rare horses, cows and foxes.

Tatyana Arslanova, Executive President of AirBridgeCargo, said: "Our charter business is a good example of the business synergy effect which exists between AirBridgeCargo and our mother company, Volga-Dnepr Airlines. The expertise our Volga-Dnepr colleagues share with us is an invaluable experience for ABC. When it comes to the transportation of live animals ABC has proven itself as the best choice to Russia. We have earned a strong reputation for the quality of our flights and ground services in securing the safe deliveries of a wide range of live animals."

Evgeny Butovsky, COO of Lipetskmyaso OJSC, said: "The purchase of young breeder pigs from a leading Canadian company is a significant development not only for Lipetskmyaso, but the whole pork segment of the Cherkizovo Group. The "Large White" breed delivered to our Lipetsk facility will become the genetic kernel, from which Cherkizovo can increase the future production rate of this segment."
