The KPIs are interactive, allowing producers to input their own figures and then compare them with the industry average, the top third or the top 10 per cent.

The baseline figures are achieved using Agrosoft data and cover indoor and outdoor breeding herds, rearing herds 7-35kg, finishing herds 35-110kg and combined rearer-finisher herds 7-110kg.

The figures are an important element in gauging the progress being made towards the target of two tonnes of pig meat per sow per year – the 2TS Campaign. At present, producers in the UK lag behind their counterparts in continental Europe with an average of 1,722kg.
