LOCOG, the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games is responsible for preparing and staging the 2012 Games and it was this committee which set the standards.

BPEX foodservice trade manager Tony Goodger said: "Pork is still the world’s favourite meat so there will be a huge demand for it throughout the Olympics and Paralympics.

"Red Tractor pork and pork products will be in demand and there will be big opportunities for high welfare, assured producers.

"With recipes and menus for the games to be finalised with LOCOG during the autumn now is the time to speak with the catering service providers who will be serving meals to competitors and their support teams, the world’s media and spectators.

"Equally the LOCOG Food Vision for 2012 seeks to inspire caterers beyond the games venues to embrace the same high food standards that the games are observing and therefore the opportunity exists for Red Tractor Assured pork and pork products.

"They can also be served at a ‘myriad of other catering events across the UK’s hotel and Restaurant sector and around the country, at Live Sites, festivals, celebrations, regional food fairs and cultural events along the route of the Torch Relay’ as well as through themed catering celebrating the games."
