UK Feed Production 4.4 Per Cent Lower in January

UK - Feed production in January 2011 was four per cent lower than in the same month of 2010, according to the GB Animal Feed Statistical Notice.

Statistics on GB Animal Feed include data for the period November 2010, December 2010 and January 2011 with percentage change for corresponding period last year. Statistics for the quarterly average price series show data from the period January to March 2006 up to the period July to September 2010.

Among the key points of the report are that, in January 2011, total GB retail production of animal feed was down 4.4 per cent compared with January 2010, while total GB raw material usage in the retail production of animal feed was down 4.6 per cent compared with January 2010.

In January 2011, the total GB integrated feed production was down 15.6 per cent below January 2010 although January 2010 was a fve-week month and therefore the data is not comparable with January 2011, which is a four-week month.

For the period July to September 2010 quarterly average prices of animal feedingstuffs (per tonne) were: cattle and calf feed, £179; pig feed, £212; and poultry feed, £224.
