Tanzania Reports More ASF
TANZANIA - There were another four outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in pigs in the first week of February.The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 1 dated 11 February to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
All four outbreaks started during the first week of February and in the Mbeya region, which is is the south-west of the country and borders Malawi and Zambia. In total, 1,610 pigs were affected, of which 191 showed symptoms and 79 died.
The infection is thought to have been transmitted by the illegal movement of animals.
