The German, Dutch, Belgian, Danish, Austrian and Irish quotations are all moving sidewards. Sweden is the only country to set a positive sign, increasing their quotation noticeably. With its minus 2 cent, the French quotation went down a little. As a result of strikes, the effect demand had on the pig price was slight but negative. Everything is expected to get back to normal next week. Thinking about the increased production costs, the French producers are very worried when looking at achieving the magic boundary of 1.20 Euros per kg slaughter weight.

For the fourth time in a row, the Spanish reduced their quotation downward for pigs mature for slaughter. The Spanish slaughter companies were supplied with the animals needed in sufficient quantities. Traditionally, the transition from high summer to lower autumn prices was expected in that favoured holiday country. From Spain as well, complaints are heard about the pig producers achieving reduced margins needed for covering increased production costs. In Great Britain, the quotation was put under pressure through demand having gone down. Yet, positive impulse is felt on the Isle as a result of increasing Russian demand for pork.

Market trend for Germany: The extensive supply of pigs for slaughter faces good demand from the slaughter companies. Thus, the prices are expected to remain unchanged.
