The move follows the introduction of export refunds by the European Commission and is designed as an added boost to the pig industry.

The French Minister for Agriculture, Michel Barnier said the new measures will complement those already introduced by the European Commission. Additional loans of up to €30 million could also be introduced to help pig breeders, who are in difficulty.

The measures are designed to help those in the industry, who are most in debt.

The cash aid will be available from the beginning of next year and will help in the consolidation of the industry and strenthen a diversified production.
