Pig menace continues in Salem Corporation area
INDIA - The Salem Corporation’s directive asking pig rearers to take them outside the city within August 16 has not evoked any positive response.A majority of the pig rearers in the city are yet to shift the animals even after the deadline fixed by the Corporation expired.
As a result, pigs continue to pose serious threat to human health in several parts of the city, particularly in Ammapet and Kitchipalayam areas.
The Corporation issued the directive following criticism from the public over the continuing pig menace in the city.
Citizens complained that the sanitary conditions in many parts remained poor due to the presence of large number of pigs.
In Ammapet, weavers were incurring heavy loss as the animals were running over the yarn dried on the vacant spaces and streets, damaging them.
