Red meat production falls with record lows for June
US - Commercial red meat production for the United States totaled 4.03 billion pounds in June, down 3 percent from the 4.14 billion pounds produced in June 2006, reports National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), in the March 2007 Livestock slaughter report.Pork production totaled 1.65 billion pounds, down 1 percent from the previous year.
Hog kill totaled 8.30 million head, down 1 percent from June 2006.
The average live weight was unchanged from the previous year, at 267 pounds.
June 2006 contained 22 weekdays (including no holidays) and 4 Saturdays.
June 2007 contained 21 weekdays (including no holidays) and 5 Saturdays.
