Nedap Agri successfully starts up first installations of Nedap Velos Electronic Sow Feeding systems.
UKRAINE - Following the market introduction at the Eurotier last year, Nedap Agri has now installed the first commercial installations of the Nedap Velos ESF (Electronic Sow Feeding) system in the Ukraine. 3 farms with a total of 5.500 sows have been equipped with this system.

One farm expanded its existing Nedap ESF system, installed 8 years ago, with another 24 units. With that increasing its capacity with 2300 sows. 2 further farms started the use of Nedap Velos as a basis for their expansion in pig production.
A 2.500 sow unit in the west of Ukraine has been equipped with Nedap Velos ESF systems.
With Nedap Velos these investors have chosen a housing system for pregnant sows that enables them to execute their growing schemes while maintaining the control of the production process with minimum staff. Group housing the pregnant sows ensures maximum possibilities in marketing their products, in- and outside the EU. Nedap Velos ESF is based on sows tagged with RFID (electronic identification) to control feed, location and estrus detection.

View of a Ukrainian Nedap Velos installation Nedap Velos differentiates from previous ESF systems by providing automatic locating of sows, being independent of PC software and allowing multi site control. The system is fully operational and serviceable from any location worldwide by a secured internet connection.
Cameras for distant control can be fully integrated as well as e-mail or SMS based signaling systems.
Nedap will be installing further Velos ESF systems in Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Denmark and Canada in the next months.
