Cattle, Hog Numbers Fall in Ukraine
UKRAINE - As of December 1, 2004 the number of cattle, kept by all categories of Ukrainian cattle breeders, dropped 9.8 percent to 7.4 million heads from the figure of year ago, according to State Statistics Committee.
The number of cows dropped 6.3 percent from December 1, 2003 to 4.16 million heads.
The number of pigs, kept by all categories of animal breeders, as of December 1, 2004 was 7.13 million heads, which is 11.4 percent less than year ago.
The number of poultry increased 7.6 percent from early December of 2003 to 165.16 million heads. The number of sheep and goats deceased 6 percent from last year to 1.87 million heads.
